Today is a massive day for the Barbados Pelicans as they look to boost their fortunes in the ongoing West Indies Breakout League cricket tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Bajan youths have been hot and cold in their three matches – one close win and two big defeats – and need a truly break-out performance in their bid to make the top three, who will advance to the play-offs. However, skipper Nyeem Young was confident his team could still qualify.
After a break yesterday, the Bajans will face Jamaica today at 2 p.m. at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. The weather report for south Trinidad suggests the possibility of thunderstorms during the match period, so the teams will have to take this into consideration.
Speaking from Trinidad yesterday, Young said: “We have not been at our best, but we are still high on confidence. We have not dropped our heads and we are still very much in it. We have a good team environment, and we believe we have what it takes to advance. (PS)
