By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) hosted a Club Licensing Workshop on Saturday, May 3, bringing together representatives from clubs across the Premier League of Belize, the Premier Women’s League of Belize, and First Division clubs. The initiative aimed to strengthen governance and compliance within football clubs, reinforcing the Federation’s commitment to professionalizing the sport at all levels.

FFB President Sergio Chuc delivered the keynote address, stressing the significance of club licensing in fostering sustainable development and enhancing operational standards. Interim General Secretary Ian Jones opened the event with remarks on the impact of structured licensing in advancing Belizean football.
The workshop was led by Club Licensing Manager Sandra Aleman and Head of the FFB Legal Department Earl Jones, who guided participants through detailed sessions on the six core pillars of club licensing: sporting, infrastructure, administrative, financial, legal, and social responsibility.
Key discussions included an overview of the 2025/26 Club Licensing Cycle and timelines, mandatory and recommended criteria under each pillar, compliance procedures, and strategies for strengthening club structures.
“Club representatives engaged actively throughout the session, reflecting a shared commitment to meeting licensing standards and improving the operational and professional aspects of football clubs in Belize,” the FFB said.
The workshop marks a vital step in the continued development of the sport, laying the foundation for a transparent and accountable licensing process, the FFB concluded.
