The rescheduled Jamaica Reach to Recovery (JR2R) Pink Run will take place on Sunday at Emancipation Park starting at 6 a.m.
The event, which is making its 25th anniversary, was rescheduled following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which significantly affected several parishes in western Jamaica.
In the aftermath of the storm, which disrupted the lives and livelihoods of the western region of the island, JR2R is extending its tradition of care beyond the breast cancer community by encouraging all participants to help those whose lives were upended by Hurricane Melissa. On race day, the organisation will host a donation drive, collecting canned goods, non-perishable food items, and toiletries to support families rebuilding after the hurricane. Drop boxes will be available at Emancipation Park, and items collected will be distributed in partnership with Food For The Poor (FFTP).
Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness is also expected to deliver brief remarks at the start of this year’s Pink Run. His presence reinforces the Government’s commitment to fostering national unity and resilience, as communities across Jamaica continue to support those most impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

As survivors, we reach out in solidarity with those going through this trying time. This year, we want to channel that same spirit of resilience to help families recovering from Hurricane Melissa. We’re asking every participant on race day to bring at least one item to donate so we can bring a little hope where it’s needed most, as the saying goes: ‘one one cocoa full basket’. We were spared, and to whom much is given, much is expected. Through this effort, we continue to live our mission of Reaching Hearts, Restoring Hope.”

In addition to the relief efforts, in its usual fashion, the Pink Run will use the funds raised to provide vital support for breast cancer survivors, helping to cover the costs of treatment, transportation, and emotional support through JR2R’s outreach programmes. These contributions make it possible for survivors across Jamaica to access the care and encouragement they need on their journey to recovery.
