The Colin Miller Sports Complex, home of Rusea’s High School, comes alive this afternoon when Hanover Primary Allstars team take on their counterparts from Trelawny in an allstars game today at 2 30 p.m.
This will be preceded by a match between a Hanover U15 select team versus a Trelawny U15 select team at 1 p.m.
Coach of Hanover Allstars Glenroy Peterkin said this game offers great experience and exposure for his players, who have very little competitive football at the youth level, other than the Insports Primary Football Competition.
“The implementation of the allstars game against Trelawny is a good initiative, especially for our boys, as Hanover does not have much to offer in football other than the Insports league.
“So this will further develop their skills and give them more experience playing against other parishes, and a strong parish such as Trelawny,” he commented.
Peterkin, said he is very familiar with Trelawny’s youth football and is confident in his team’s ability to deliver the win.
“The group is very good. If they go out on the day and do what I ask of them, they will come out victorious.
“I am seeing good quality in all the areas. So it’s a good bunch who can take the game to their opponents.
“My school plays against Trelawny schools for practice matches, so I know the quality they have and the coaches are qualified. So it will be a tight game.
“Clarks Town have always had a good team. If they group those players with other good players, they will have a solid team, but I believe, with the quality we have, we can take the win,” he said
His counterpart, Henry Hoffstead, noted that the game is a historic one and they want to be on the winning side of history.
“You would want to go in and make history, to be the first Trelawny team to win the Allstars game.
The team is quite ready. We have had a bit of work with players who are not familiar to our style, but I think we are ready. We had a few training sessions and it’s for them to go and prove themselves.”
He added that the experience the players will gain will be priceless.
“It’s a very good game and they will have the experience of going out in the enemy territory to play and win a game. So I am looking for a good game, and may the better team win,” he added.
