Get Grenada Swimming successfully completed its 12th year of swim weeks last Saturday, thanks to the dedication and hard work of site supervisors, swim instructors, sponsors, volunteers, and friends. Their collective efforts have made this event possible year after year.
Free swim lessons across Grenada
As in previous years, free swim lessons were offered throughout Grenada for adults and children aged five and older. The lessons took place at 15 venues, stretching from Sauteurs to Grand Anse Beach to Carriacou.
Silversands Management’s Support
Management from Silversands expressed their enthusiasm, stating: “Naguib Sawiris and Silversands are delighted to be able to support Deb Eastwood and Get Grenada Swimming as they continue their outstanding work teaching children to swim and be safe in the water. Over the 12 years of this programme, they have probably saved many lives by teaching young people to swim at our beautiful beaches by giving them a new level of competence. We thank them all for their excellent and much-needed work.”

Overcoming challenges in Carriacou
Deb Eastwood, director of Get Grenada Swimming, highlighted a significant challenge at Carriacou, where over 30 swimmers signed up just 2 days before the event, but only one instructor was available. At the last minute, 2 volunteers from Grenada travelled on the Osprey to assist for the week. This teamwork resulted in teaching 55 swimmers — the highest number ever for a Carriacou swim week.
CPR Training: A unique addition
This year’s swim lessons included a special “hands-only” CPR training session at Camerhogne Park, which was well received by both students and adults.
Thanks to sponsors
Deb Eastwood extended gratitude to Silversands (major sponsor), Budget Marine, True Blue Bay Resort, Ting/Star Malt, Spice Island Marine, Acado, Flow, Pure Grenada, and Waggy-T for their support.
