It was a moment many dream of, and on Saturday afternoon that dream became reality as Kerry Mentore and his son Kerique Mentore produced a remarkable partnership to lead Rising Sun Spartans to their first win of the season.
The pair came together at 108 for four in the 18th over and turned the match on its head with a record-breaking fifth-wicket stand of 235. Kerry Mentore, the former Leeward Islands wicketkeeper-batsman, dominated the bowling with a powerful 144, smashing 15 sixes and six fours before his dismissal. His son, Kerique Mentore, remained unbeaten on 128, registering his maiden century and guiding Spartans to a massive 366 for six.
For the opposition, Shawn Harris was the best of the bowlers with 2-52, while Hosea Roberts picked up 1-46. In reply, the Tertiary Institutions and Schools team were dismissed for 208, with Ronaldo Antigua scoring 41, Kaivalya Mishra 39, and Hosea Roberts 34. Spartans’ bowling effort was led by Jamal Smith (3-41), with support from Hilroy Andrew (2-55) and Royal Richard (2-9), sealing a 158-run victory.
Pigotts Crushers handed Liberta Blackhawks a heavy defeat despite being restricted early in their innings. After being sent in to bat, Crushers were bowled out for 164 in 33.3 overs, with Malique Walsh top-scoring with 43 and support from Uri Smith.
The Blackhawks’ bowlers impressed, led by Eltoy Francis Jr (4-20), while Kadeem Phillip took 3-10 and Jaeo Benjamin claimed 2-33. However, the chase fell apart under disciplined bowling, as Emroy Lee (3-20), Ronneil Jeffrey (5-16), and Tyree Moore (2-18) led the resistance. Jalen Harris was especially effective, finishing with 3-5, as Crushers secured an 89-run win.
At New Winthorpes, Orandel Boston delivered a standout bowling display to guide New Winthorpes Lions to victory over All Saints Pythons.

The Pythons were in control at 105 for one before Boston changed the course of the match, removing key batters including Michael Dover (52) and Kenrick Scott (31). He went on to claim seven wickets for 26 runs, dismantling the innings, with only Antwone Willock offering resistance with 24.
Earlier, Lions posted 208 in 39.1 overs, led by Demari Benta (48), Tyrone Williams (35), and Ishmael Peters (26), while Kadeem Josiah took 5-36 for the Pythons.
Tanez Francis continued his outstanding season with a brilliant 163 to lead Empire Nation to a dominant 233-run victory over Bethesda Golden Eagles.
The young wicketkeeper-batsman struck 12 sixes and nine fours in a well-paced innings, receiving support from Justin Athanaze (36) and Zianni Da Silva (31). With the ball, Bryan Bailey led with 3-23, while Keno Goodwin and Tron Payne picked up two wickets each.
In response, the Eagles were bowled out for 87, with Jquan Athanaze taking 4-28, supported by Yanique Watley and Damian Lowenfield, who both claimed two wickets.
In the Round South derby, Jennings continued their strong record against Bolans with a six-wicket victory.
Batting first, Bolans were dismissed for 139, with Earl Waldrom scoring 28 and Winston Nelson adding 22. The bowling was led by Hughan Tonge (4-29), supported by Zavier Freeland (3-28) and Glenton Williams (2-14).
Jennings replied with 140 for four in 27.1 overs, as Williams top-scored with 49, while Emmanuel Lawrence made 29 and Tonge added 22. Ondre Peters was the pick of the bowlers for Bolans with 3-28.
