By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize District Football Association (BDFA) First Division Championship is hosting three matches on Labour Day, Thursday, May 1, at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City. Football fans can look forward to highly anticipated matchups as teams battle to improve their standings and build on last weekend’s dramatic performances.


The action begins at 2:00 p.m., with Survivors FC aiming for redemption after a frustrating 2-2 draw against Old Road Defenders, a game in which they squandered a two-goal lead. Survivors will rely on Kennard Armstrong, who netted twice in their previous outing, while Hattieville United Youth Sporting Club seeks to rebound from a narrow 1-0 loss to Reggae Boyz.
At 4:00 p.m., Old Road Defenders, buoyed by their comeback against Survivors, square off against Kelly Street Bombers, who hope to recover after a tough 3-1 defeat to Tut Bay FC. Kelly Street will lean on striker Steven Baizar, while Old Road’s Jamal Tillett, who bagged a brace last time out, looks to continue his strong form.
The evening’s marquee matchup at 6:00 p.m. features Tut Bay FC, riding high after a commanding 3-1 victory over Kelly Street Bombers, against Caesar Ridge. Tut Bay’s offensive prowess—led by Raymond Gentle Jr.’s first-minute goal and contributions from Calvin and Devin Thurton—will pose a serious challenge
