The launch of Cayman Football Club earlier this year opened an exciting new chapter for local youth football development, and now interested youth have an opportunity to join the club.
Tryouts for boys and girls aged 10 to 18 started earlier this month on 2 June and will continue to 30 June. These sessions will select players for three of the clubs’ programmes: Academy Travel, Academy Development and College Showcase Teams.
These tryouts will identify talented players who will then compete in local leagues, US tournaments and college showcase events.
All training sessions will take place at the Field of Dreams.
The public is invited to a town hall meeting at the George Town Yacht Club on 15 June to learn more about these transformative programmes.
Registration details and other information can be found at www.caymanfc.ky, on Instagram or through email at [email protected].
Who is Cayman Football Club?
This premier academy, spearheaded by founder Jason Beckford, is committed to fostering talent through professional coaching, emphasising holistic personal growth, athletic skill and community involvement.
Beckford, a former Manchester City player and a UEFA A licensed coach with an extensive football career, leads Cayman FC as its head coach and founder.
With a distinguished career and a global network built through his own playing days and his son’s journey through youth and collegiate football systems, Beckford is uniquely positioned to open doors for young, aspiring footballers in Cayman.

His primary aim is to create tangible pathways for players to advance to higher levels, including securing student-athlete scholarships and gaining access to professional academies.
A significant highlight is the establishment of the Cayman FC Girls Academy, kicking off in September 2025.
This pioneering, girls-only programme underscores Cayman FC’s dedication to developing female footballers through tailored training and competitive experiences for those aged 6 to 18.
“We are committed to providing the best possible environment for both boys and girls to grow, compete and succeed,” Beckford told the Compass.
“Our … tryouts and the launch of the girls-only academy represent significant milestones in our mission to elevate football in the Cayman Islands and empower the next generation of players,” he added.
Ali Sozeri, business operations manager and academy head coach of Cayman FC, is a UEFA B licensed coach with international football experience, joining Beckford on the mission of developing local football.
Sozeri spent his football development years between Turkish, English, Austrian and American youth academies, exposing him to various football cultures and philosophies.
He also played for NCAA Division I Boston University and USL 2 side Boston Rams.
In a recent Compass TV interview, Sozeri noted that he believes his exposure to different football cultures, training methods and playing styles gives him a good base for coaching.
Both look forward to furthering the development of the sport locally with the support of the personal networks built through their football careers.
