RANGERS missed out on one Peterborough star this summer – but landed another.
The Gers clinched the signing of giant defender Emmanuel Fernandez last night – just days after watching wing back Kwame Poku join QPR instead.
And that’s grist to the mill of Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony, who is fiercely proud of the Posh’s reputation as one of the best finishing schools in the UK game.
Pointing out that he snapped the player up for FREE then watched him help the club retain their EFL trophy, MacAnthony took to social media to fire back at his critics after a season which saw the Posh finish back in 18th place in League 1.
He wrote on X: “Delighted to play a part taking a young man for £0, let our wonderful coaches do their thing, the club have an awful season winning another trophy and see him end up at a Champions League club in another blockbuster deal.
“Another message to all young talent out there & their agents that regardless of recent ‘short term’ sentiment re us being written off – The Posh is the place to come & has been for many years.”
