Powered by goals from their Saint Lucian striker Donavan Gusto Phillip, the Flint City Bucks came from a goal down to win their latest road fixture in League Two of the United States Soccer League. The Bucks (7-3-0) defeated Union FC Macomb 3-1 over the weekend in Romeo, Michigan, with Phillip scoring twice.
The Bucks were down 1-0 early on, before the powerful figure of Phillip popped up in the opposition box, nodding home a six-yard header from a Roman Kedgley cross to level. The same combination was at work again to seal the victory after an own goal from the home team had given the Bucks the lead for the first time.
The brace took Phillip to nine goals for the season, the second highest in USL 2. He scored the winner earlier in the season in a 1-0 home win over Macomb. The Saint Lucian tyro also leads the league in assists, with eight.
A junior at North Carolina State University, Phillip last year became the first Saint Lucian to get drafted by Major League Soccer, taken by Colorado Rapids with the 62nd pick in the 2025 SuperDraft. The Marchand native has one more year in school before starting his full-time professional career.
FCB hit the road again at South Bend to face Northern Indiana FC on Wednesday night. Phillip and the men from Vehicle City then return home on Saturday to host Lansing City FC on Hurley Night.
