Huge weather delay
Not only were there thunderous tackles on display in today’s match, but actual lightning strikes too.
The weather turned so dangerous that, in the 43rd minute, officials were forced to escort players off the pitch and into the changing rooms for safety.
‘Fair play to the Wallabies’
Irish hooker Dan Sheehan had much respect for the Australian players today where he believes they deserved that win.
He said: “Our aim at the start of the tournament was a 3-0 victory, but they [Australia] came out firing tonight.”
On that sudden 30-minute pause of the game just after halftime, Sheehan explained how strange it was.
“First experience of that! We were all good in the changing room, we were in a good spot, and our confidence was there.
“We gave it to the end, which was all we wanted.”
‘I’m so proud of the team’
After a tough week for the Wallabies, they’re happy to come away with the win today and stop the Lions getting that 3-0 whitewash.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “It means so much to us, 83,000 people supporting us, no reason to come out here but for the pride of the jersey.”
He also spoke about Nic White making his final international appearance for Australia.
He said: “I’m so happy he got to finish his test career like that, he’s so important to our group.
“We all love him, and the competitor came out of him tonight, and I’m just so happy we won for him.”
