The Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) disbursed just over $73,000 in funding to five national sports associations on Wednesday to support completed, ongoing and future programmes. The beneficiaries are the governing bodies for football, rugby, tennis, bodybuilding and table tennis.
The Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) received $20,000 for its participation in the Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship in Curaçao.
Similarly, the Saint Lucia Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness Association was granted $20,000 to assist in hosting the 52nd Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships next month.
Meanwhile, the Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union, fresh off hosting its fourth annual Caribcation Carnival Sevens competition, secured $10,000 in funding.
The SLOC allocated $9,617.83 to the Saint Lucia Tennis Association to cover hotel accommodation for the national team’s participation in the Billie Jean King Cup Group III in El Salvador (August 18–23).
Additionally, the Saint Lucia Table Tennis Association received $13,385.89 to support Manie Eleuthere and Joshua Lubin’s international campaigns. After competing in the Pan Am Junior Games in Asunción, Paraguay, the duo will head to Rosario, Argentina, for the 2025 ITTF Pan American Youth Championships.
This marks the SLOC’s fourth funding disbursement in 2025, bringing its total quadrennial investment in member programmes to just over $385,000..
