RANGERS fans have been left gutted after a pub set up as a shrine to the Ibrox team suddenly closed its doors.
Lounge 72 in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, celebrated the Light Blues and featured a host of Rangers memorabilia and specially embossed floors and tables.
The watering hole had hosted evenings with Rangers’ heroes including Graeme Souness and Marvin Andrews.
But they left regulars crestfallen after announcing they would be closing the doors and calling full time on the venue.
A social media post said: “As we prepare to close the doors of Lounge 72 for the final time, we want to take a moment to say the biggest thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.
“To our wonderful customers – thank you for your loyalty, laughter, and stories shared over a pint. Whether you popped in for one or stayed until last orders, you made this place what it was: a true community.

“It’s been an honour to serve you all, and while we’re sad to say goodbye, we’re proud of the memories made within these walls.
“Here’s to the good times – and to all of you.”
Customers left wishes of good luck to the staff and owners on social media.
One said: “Sorry to hear your closing. I popped in a few times when I was in the area would have been my regular if I stayed near by.
Another wrote: “I’m so thankful that I was introduced to the lounge 72. It was just so relaxed and friendly staff and customers. I loved being part of the pub.”
Several other punters took to social media to bemoan the closure of the boozer.
One said: “What a real shame, great spot.”
Another added: “Best wee pub in the Shire with such fab hardworking bar staff and lovely owners.”
A third said: “Will miss you guys, great times and memories.”
While another added: “Aww that’s so sad. I’m so thankful that I was introduced to the Lounge 72.
“It was just so relaxed and friendly staff and customers.
“I loved being part of the pub and I’m so gutted for Colin and Jamie and everyone who put a lot of effort into it.
“Best wee pub ever.”
A source said: “The pub had been popular with Rangers fans and some locals but it’s a hard business to be in.
“A sign seeking new owners appeared pretty quickly. There had been rumours about its future and it seems they were right this time.”
The pub was previously targeted by vandals who daubed kerbstones green, white and gold.
Commuters spotted the graffiti as they travelled to work.
The pub’s opening had been delayed due to Covid but punters had flocked to it for its official opening day.
Bar bosses had also been forced to appeal for the return of a cardboard cut out of the Princess of Wales.
The figure showed Catherine at the King’s Coronation, wearing a red, white and blue outfit with a white Alexander McQueen gown under her red and blue royal robes.
The bar said: “HELP US FIND PRINCESS KATE.

“The Princess of Wales has been stolen from Lounge 72 Uddingston Checked the CCTV footage and we’ve found the culprit. If this person returns our Princess to the pub then we won’t release the CCTV footage onto social media.”
