CELTIC star Johnny Kenny has signed a new deal at the club.
The 22-year-old was in the final 12 months of his contract but has put pen to paper on a FOUR-year-deal.
It will keep him at the club until at least 2029.
It looked at some stage in this window that he might leave Parkhead after Bolton made an offer of around £500,000.
But the Hoops rejected the bid from the English League One side, while a number of other clubs have also expressed interest in a loan agreement for this season.
Kenny has been a development player for Brendan Rodgers following his arrival from Sligo Rovers in January 2022.
He joined Queen‘s Park on loan soon after where he made 12 appearances and gained experience in the Scottish Championship.
Another loan spell followed at Shamrock Rovers where impressive performance in league and in the Conference League in Europe last season convinced Rodgers to bring him back to the club.
He scored 20 goals for Shamrock last season, including five in Europe before returning to the Hoops.
He found his game time limited but did start and score in the 5-1 win over Aberdeen in May.
He has taken his good form into pre-season with Brendan Rodgers pleased with his condition and keen to tie him down to a new deal.
Rodgers said at the start of last month: ““He’s big on the pitch, he’s bigger in his uniform.
“He presses, he runs, he’s aggressive. And like I say, 25 yards in, he’s a very good finisher.
“So, we think there’s a lot of talent there, we want to try and develop that and we’ll see how he does over the course of pre-season.”
Kenny scored in the Hoops’ warm up wins over Queen’s Park and Newcastle United, and came off the bench in their late victory over St Mirren in their Premiership opener.
