ASTON VILLA are set to splash out over £1 million on Aberdeen kid Fletcher Boyd.
The 17-year-old has been the star of the Dons’ academy for the last few years and scored against Hibs and Livingston in his first two senior appearances in May 2024.
Boyd found game time hard to come by under Swedish boss Jimmy Thelin last season, making just two sub appearances in the league, while playing four times in the cups.
The teen has had more game time this term, coming off the bench against Hearts, Celtic and Morton in recent weeks.
Villa have been tracking the Scotland U19 squad striker for some time and now want to get a deal done before Monday’s deadline.
Aberdeen want in excess of £1 million plus add-ons for the hitman so talks are ongoing with the English Premier League side.

And indications are a deal to take Boyd south will be completed within the next 48 hours.
Villa have scouted Scottish football for young talent regularly in recent years, taking Kerr Smith from Dundee United, Rory Wilson from Rangers and Aidan Borland from Celtic.
Boyd will now join them in Birmingham in a bid to take the next step in his career.
Aberdeen are also set to cash in on winger Shayden Morris after he flew home before their Europa League tie with FCSB on Thursday.
Luton Town have been tracking him all summer and had a £600,000 offer rejected earlier this month.
But they have come back with more cash now and Dons chiefs have agreed he can leave.
Morris is currently in talks with the League One side and should complete his switch before the window closes.
Dons boss Thelin has added £250,000 Celtic defender Mitchel Frame, with the 19-year-old set to go straight into their squad to face Falkirk on Sunday.
Frame said: “This is a great opportunity for me to come and play at such a big club.
“As soon as I heard Aberdeen were interested, I was really excited. I know it will be a great opportunity to prove myself and take the next step in my career. I want to show everyone what I am capable of.
“I want to go and experience playing in the Conference League. It will be good to face different opposition and get exposure to that.
“I just want to play as many games as I can and help the team achieve success.”
Thelin needs more Scots in his squad for the Conference League so Frame’s arrival will allow him to beef up his player pool for Europe.
He said: “We have been monitoring Mitchel’s progress for some time, and we are very pleased we have eventually managed to sign him.
“He is a forward-thinking full back, with pace and physicality, and he fits well with how we want to play and what our expectations are of our full backs.

“His arrival will also give us more resilience and stability in that area of the pitch.
“He’s an exciting talent and we look forward to working with him to help him release his future potential.”
