RANGERS fans showed their backing for outcast Nico Raskin by chanting his name during the Old Firm derby – after they player was DROPPED from the squad.
Boss Russell Martin made the bombshell decision to axe the midfielder for the clash against Celtic.
The move came amid reports of a rift between the two men, with Raskin’s DAD even weighing in to describe Martin as having an “oversized ego”.
Martin himself was coy on the topic when asked about it in his pre-match press conference but we exclusively revealed that senior players BACKED his decision to banish the Belgian from his derby day plans.
Raskin, who also had a falling out with old boss Ronny Deila before leaving previous club Standard Liege, was one of the players Martin appeared to call out after the first league game of the campaign against Motherwell and despite being the club’s player of the year for last season, he hasn’t been a regular this term.
The midfielder’s future has been in doubt for some time and it emerged over the weekend that Wolves and Crystal Palace had the 24-year-old on their wishlist ahead of transfer deadline day.

At Ibrox today however, thousands of Rangers fans began to sing his name in the 24th minute of the match.
Banners calling for Martin to go were also spotted outside the stadium before kick-off.
