BRENDAN RODGERS admitted the Old Firm bore draw was BRUTAL to watch.
Then he told his board: That’s what you get for not signing better players.
The Celtic manager admits he’s still in the dark over what deals the club can do in the final hours of the transfer window.
And after a turgid display that saw his side manage just TWO shots on target, he said: “That was brutal, to be honest. It was a hard watch.
“Sadly, though, it’s because the game is about the profile of players. I think that’s very clear.
“The quality of your player is what takes you to different levels.
“It’s my responsibility to maximise what I can get out of the players who are here, but hopefully we can get competition in to reinvigorate some players who’ve been here for a long time.
“If you’ve been here for four years, like Daizen Maeda or others, you need that competition.
“We know what we need and hopefully in this last stage we can get it done.
“It’s in Celtic’s DNA to play with attacking intent, an attacking mentality and that bit of quality in the final third.
“Twelve months ago, everything was there, so you felt like you could go into games being creative and dynamic. That’s what we all want to see.
“In the same period last year goals were plentiful, so the team goes in with a different energy and a different feeling that sparks everything off, it brings energy and that key attitude you want.
“When you feel like your top end of the pitch is on the front foot, you get the ball through nice and quickly.
“When you’re lacking that, though, you stop taking risks, you know?
“We were a bit safe and playing sidewards or backwards and that’s not our idea of football. That wasn’t the plan.
“You never go into a game as Celtic manager telling them to pass sideways.
“In terms of our quality, it’s not at the level I’d expect a Celtic team to be. Overall, the quality of the game wasn’t a high enough level.”
Rodgers claimed he was still in the dark over the future of striker Adam Idah, who appeared to be ready to seal a £6million move to Swansea City only for it to be put on hold because Celtic haven’t got a deal for Danish frontman Kasper Dolberg over the line.
And he refused to be drawn on whether the Anderlecht man – or anyone else – would definitely be through the door by tomorrow night’s 11pm deadline.
As if Idah could stay and whether he understood how perplexed fans are, he said: “I don’t know. We left to prepare yesterday and I haven’t spoken to anyone since then. I’m sure I’ll get an update.
“It’s not been ideal for Adam or for the club. But we still have look beyond that.
