CELTIC face a race against time to snap up Kelechi Iheanacho – with the deadline to register players for the Europa League coming TONIGHT.
The Hoops suffered a frustration as they were unable to bring in a striker to replace Adam Idah on deadline day.
First Kasper Dolberg rebuffed their approach ahead of what seems likely to be a move to Dutch giants Ajax, then Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana knocked back an offer to join Charlton, only for the move to the South London side to fall through.
Iheanacho, who was released by Sevilla last night, remains a major target – just as he was back in January.
Brendan Rodgers has previously worked with the player, who is available on a free transfer.
But it’s NOT true to say the Hoops are in no rush to get the signing done, because he won’t be eligible to play in the club’s Europa League matches if they can’t get him to sign on the dotted line by 11pm TONIGHT.

That’s the deadline for finalising Europa League squads for all competing teams – and the Hoops will of course want the Nigeria international available.
They’ve got a tough selection of matches – with the likes of Roma, Red Star Belgrade, Bologna and Feyenoord lying in wait.
While the pedigree of the former Man City star is not in doubt, he opted to join Middlesbrough instead of the Hoops in January, and scored just one goal in 15 appearances.
The ticking clock to secure his signature could also put pressure on the Hoops in contract negotiations with the Hoops eager to get the deal over the line.
Iheanacho has 59 caps for Nigeria, scoring 15 goals – and is likely to be called up for the Africa Cup of Nations at the turn of the year, potentially costing his availability for the New Year Old Firm match.
