SCOTTISH LEAGUE ONE side Hamilton Accies have reportedly pulled off the signing of a Turkish football legend’s son.
That’s despite the financial struggles which saw them them slapped with a point deduction that ended up relegating them last season.
Accies earned enough points to see them finish seventh in last season’s Scottish Championship.
But on the eve of the final game, it was confirmed that the point deduction handed to them the previous month would be upheld, sending them down to League One.
The SPFL sanctions were over a failure to pay players on time and failing to meet licensing standards.
And things got worse for Accies last month, when they were hit with a shock order to wind up the club at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

Chairman Jock Brown hit back in a statement, claiming that ‘appropriate action’ had been taken to ensure their survival.
But Accies have reportedly put these concerns aside to land the transfer of the son of a former Turkish World Cup hero.
That’s as OdaTV report that the South Lanarkshire club have signed Mehmet Burak Recber from Queens Park Rangers.
The forward is the son of Rustu Recber, who turned out in goal for the Turkish national team as they reached the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2008.
Recber made over 200 appearances in a decade spent at Fenerbahce, before also enjoying spells with Antalyaspor, Besiktas and Barcelona.
He remains the all-time record Turkish appearance maker.
Accies are yet to announce the signing of the younger Recber, although OdaTV included an apparent quote from the club’s director of football Gerry Strain in their report on the signing.
It says: “We are fortunate to have Şeref Zengin as our club owner since 2023.
“This is an exciting new chapter, not only for Hamilton Academical but also for our connection to Turkey and its football tradition.
“We look forward to supporting Mehmet’s development and sharing his journey with the passionate fans of both countries.”
Hamilton Academical have been contacted for comment.
