Excitement for fall football is building with the imminent commencement of the CUC Primary Football League and Girls’ Primary Football League on 20 Sept.
In last year’s Primary Football League under-9 division, Cayman International School claimed the title after a 3-1 win over Sir John A. Cumber Primary in the final match.
Marie Martin Primary returns as the defending under-9 consolation cup champions, having defeated the previous titleholders, Cayman Prep 9B, in a final that included overtime, penalties and sudden-death penalties ending in a 5-4 victory.
In the under-11 division, a new season will see Cayman Prep 11A back on the pitch, with the opportunity to capture a ninth consecutive league title. In last year’s final, they squeezed past Prospect Primary 1-0.
Last year’s under-11 consolation cup was decided by a penalty shootout, with Marie Martin Primary defeating Island Primary 4-2 to win the title.

The returning schools for the 2025 PFL season are Sir John A. Cumber Primary, Marie Martin Primary, Red Bay Primary, Prospect Primary, Joanna Clarke Primary, Theoline L. McCoy Primary, NorthEast Schools – a combination of Edna Moyle Primary and East End Primary – Cayman International School, Cayman Prep, St. Ignatius Catholic School, Island Primary, Footsteps School and Cayman Academy.
They’ll be joined by newcomers First Baptist Christian School, Grace Christian Academy, and SCM Challengers, a combined team of players from Wesleyan Christian Academy and Truth For Youth School.
In the Girls’ Primary Football League, Cayman Prep is returning to defend its under-11 champions cup title after a 2-1 victory against first-time competitors NorthEast Schools last year.
Island Primary also celebrated a victory after a 4-0 win against Red Bay Primary, earning them the consolation cup in the finals.
The nine teams competing in this year’s girls’ league are Cayman Prep, Cayman International School, Marie Martin Primary, Joanna Clarke Primary, Sir John A. Cumber Primary, St. Ignatius Catholic, Red Bay Primary, Island Primary and NorthEast Schools.
