RANGERS shirt sponsor Guavapay says it “deeply regrets” the inconvenience caused after suspending its payment app used by fans at Ibrox due to “unresolved issues” with the Financial Conduct Authority.
The Global Fintech company became the club’s lower back of the shirt sponsor last November and also enabled supporters to buy food and drink at the ground via its MyGuava app.
The business also has other deals with English Premier League side Crystal Palace and English Championship clubs Queen‘s Park Rangers and Millwall.
And it was the latter which sounded the alarm to tell fans earlier this week that Guavapay had “suspended all customer transactions and services across their consumer platform with immediate effect.”
The club said: “While this is plainly a serious matter, the club understands that the suspension is due to unresolved issues with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
“The club has received no indication of when it may be resolved, however, it has been assured that client funds remain fully safeguarded.”

Now the financial tech company has released a statement on its website confirming the suspension.
It said: “Guavapay has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new funds on its MyGuava App and MyGuava Business platform following FCA guidance.
“Customer balances remain secure, and funds can still be accessed, transferred, or spent. Updates will be provided as the situation evolves.”
Guavapay UK‘s chief executive Laura McCracken said: “We understand the significant impact this has on our customers and partners.
“Our priority remains safeguarding customer funds and providing transparency as we work toward next steps.”
Guavapay says it “deeply regrets the inconvenience caused” and “will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.”
The business also confirmed that during the temporary suspension that fans’ can no longer load or accept new funds into the MyGuava app.
It added that customers’ cash remains protected and they can still withdraw, transfer and spend funds until their existing balance is zero.
