Jamaica’s motorsport sensation Fraser McConnell will return to Extreme E for its historic Final Lap this month as the Acciona Sainz Qev Xe Team confirms its driver line-up. McConnell will once again partner with Spanish legend Laia Sanz, continuing a successful pairing that delivered three podiums from four starts last season, including victory at the Desert X Prix in Saudi Arabia.
Founded by two-time World Rally Champion and four-time Dakar winner Carlos Sainz, the Acciona Sainz Qev Team has been one of Extreme E’s most consistent performers since the championship began.
“Having the opportunity to continue with the Acciona is a huge honour. From the very first day, I knew we could achieve great results. We’ve built a strong relationship and I’m confident we can continue our podium streak in this special farewell to Extreme E,” McConnell said.
McConnell, who previously made history as the first Jamaican to win a Rallycross Supercar race in 2021 and has since become a four-time Nitrocross Group E winner, remains one of Extreme E’s most successful competitors. His partnership with Sanz has been hailed as one of the most balanced and effective duos in the championship.
Sanz, a 13-time Trial World Champion and Dakar Rally veteran, has been part of Extreme E from the very beginning.
“I’m really happy to be back with the Acciona Sainz Qev Xe alongside Fraser,” said Sanz. “We finished last season with great momentum and the goal is clear: fight at the front and close Extreme E on a high.”
The Final Lap of Extreme E takes place this weekend in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, before the sport transitions into the groundbreaking hydrogen-powered Extreme H World Cup the following weekend. McConnell will also compete in Extreme H.
McConnell’s return to the grid will be aired live on YouTube at 9 a.m. today and 3 p.m. tomorrow.
