DANNY ROHL will reach out to a Rangers hero to become part of his backroom staff if he is named the club’s next manager, reports suggest.
Rohl, 36, is one of the candidates in what looks like a two-horse race between him and ex-Gers star Kevin Muscat for the Ibrox job.

What is complicating the pursuit of Muscat is the fact he is embroiled in a title race in his current role as boss of Shanghai Port.
They can’t sew up the Chinese Super League title until October 26 and season doesn’t normally end until well into November.
Rohl however is free to start ASAP, with the former Germany and Bayern Munich assistant coach out of work since leaving Sheffield Wednesday in July amid their ongoing financial and ownership struggles.
The German was considered by the Ibrox outfit’s hierarchy prior to Russell Martin being appointed in the summer but they were put off by the £2.5million payout they would need to give the Hillsborough club to secure his services.

It’s now emerged that while Rohl has been busy identifying his potential backroom team, he has sounded out a modern day Rangers icon for a key role on his staff
And that man is ex-Gers captain Steven Davis.
The Northern Irishman had two playing spells at Rangers and also took on the role of caretaker boss at the club after the sacking of Michael Beale.
Davis, 40, is currently working as an assistant to Michael O’Neill with the Northern Ireland national team.
Rohl would bring the former midfielder on board if he is given the job, reports the Daily Record.
Ex-Gers skipper and current Hearts youth coach Lee Wallace had also been mentioned for a possible return to Ibrox under Rohl.
His name was put forward by Andy Halliday, who was a teammate of Wallace’s at Rangers.
Halliday told Open Goal: “I’ve got a wee exclusive for you: Danny Rohl wants Lee Wallace for the coaching staff,”, claiming that former teammate Josh Windass (who played under Rohl at Wednesday) passed on that information.
