DANNY ROHL has officially taken the reins at Rangers as the club’s new head coach.
And that appointment has left one ex-Gers star wondering exactly who his Celtic-supporting pal will be supporting going forward!
Rohl, 36, was confirmed as the new Rangers boss yesterday after a gruelling two-week search for Russell Martin‘s replacement.
Martin was axed a fortnight ago and the Light Blues immediately began looking for his successor, with chairman Andrew Cavenagh leading the process.
What followed was a somewhat chaotic couple of weeks that saw a crazy amount of twists and turns.
Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard emerged as the early frontrunner and excitement among fans heightened when the title-winning boss flew in for talks with club chiefs.

However, a Gerrard-shaped bombshell dropped a couple of days after his arrival in the UK when it was revealed he’d pulled out of the running for the job.
Rohl then emerged as the clear favourite but he himself withdrew from the process the following week.
That twist came after Kevin Muscat emerged as the No1 contender for the role, a story first exclusively revealed by SunSport.
But in another dramatic turn, it was revealed on Sunday night that talks with the 52-year old Shanghai Port boss had stalled and the move to appoint him was dramatically OFF.
We then exclusively revealed that Rohl had sensationally returned to the fold and less than 24 hours later, he was confirmed as the club’s new boss.
While he’s only 36, Rohl has a wealth of coaching experience having worked as an assistant at RB Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich and the Germany national team.
His most recent position was his only previous managerial gig to date, with a near two-year stint at crisis-hit Sheffield Wednesday.
Wednesday have been in full-scale turbulence mode for quite some time and were engulfed in chaos for pretty much Rohl’s entire time in charge.
He took over a team that had made its worst start to a league season in 150 years but managed to navigate them to safety.
Rohl also had to deal with an unpredictable owner in Dejphon Chansiri, who is at the centre of most of the club’s chaos.
Fans have been in a permanent state of fury, while players were low on morale and have gone unpaid at various points in recent months.
Despite that, Rohl galvanised his players and led them to a 12th placed finish last season in the Championship.
He was viewed as a hero by the Wednesday fans and many were gutted – if not understanding – when he left the club in the summer.
Rohl was also immensely popular with the players at the club.
Former Scotland star Barry Bannan was his captain at Wednesday and described him as one of “the very best” managers he’d worked with in his entire career.
Airdrie-born Bannan, 35, is a boyhood Celtic fan and that hasn’t gone unnoticed with one of his former Wednesday teammates.
Bannan has been at Sheffield Wednesday for the past decade and played alongside ex-Rangers star Josh Windass for five of those years.
Windass left in the summer and moved to Wrexham.
But Windass, a Rangers player from between 2016 and 2018, couldn’t resist a little dig at Bannan’s expense after Rohl’s appointment.
Taking to Instagram with a picture of himself, Bannan and Rohl together, Windass asked Bannan: “Who are you supporting for the Old Firm games now?!!”
While Bannan hasn’t hidden his admiration for Rohl, in an exclusive interview with SunSport prior to the German’s Ibrox appointment, he confirmed exactly where his loyalties would lie.
And it certainly seems like he isn’t planning on crossing the Old Firm divide any time soon!
