NILS KOPPEN was the first high profile casualty at Rangers after the club’s US takeover.
Four months on, he’s landed a massive new role at a club competing in the Champions League.

Koppen, 40, first joined Rangers in December 2023 as head of football recruitment.
He joined after several years in Dutch giants PSV’s scouting department.
Although his role took on a slightly different name, the Belgian’s position largely saw him take over from Ross Wilson who had left Ibrox eight months previously.
A restructuring behind the scenes saw Koppen promoted to technical director in November, less than a year after joining the club.

Koppen oversaw plenty of transfer upheaval during his time at Rangers.
Hamza Igamane and Jefte both arrived at the club under Koppen’s tenure and both were sold in the summer just gone for hefty profits.
The likes of Mo Diomande and Vaclav Cerny also joined the Gers with Koppen at the helm, but not all his signings proved successful.
Robin Propper, Oscar Cortes and Jose Cifuentes were also among the recruits.
Rangers were of course taken over earlier this year, with the US consortium led by the club’s now chairman Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises assuming control.
Days after the takeover went through, Koppen became the first high profile exit from the club ahead of the ushering in of a new era.
His technical director role was taken over by Dan Purdy, who linked up again with the newly-appointed sporting director Kevin Thelwell with the two having worked together at Everton.
Rangers’ recruitment since Koppen’s exit has left a lot to be desired and some fans have even been clamouring for the Belgian’s return.
But any chance of that happening has now been totally scuppered.
That’s because Koppen has landed himself a plum new role.
He’s been announced as FC Copenhagen’s new head of scouting and recruitment.
Koppen will have responsibility for taking charge of all things recruitment related for the Danish club’s first team.
After his new role was confirmed, Koppen said: “I’m very happy to become part of FC Copenhagen.
“The club is known for its clear ambition and strong structure, and my conversations with both (technical director) Andreas (Hintze Rocks) and Sune Smith-Nilsen have confirmed that.
“I look forward to developing the recruitment work further and contributing to keeping FC Copenhagen competitive at the highest level – both in Denmark and in Europe.”
Copenhagen take on Borussia Dortmund in their next Champions League game tonight.
