AN EX-SCOTTISH football chief has launched an astonishing attack on Celtic fans, blaming them for the club’s current predicament in a foul-mouthed rant.
Roger Mitchell, who was the SPL chief between 1998 and 2002, made the comments on social media after Celtic’s 3-1 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.

It’s been a disappointing campaign for Brendan Rodgers‘ men so far after being eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers by Kairat Almaty and trailing Hearts by EIGHT points in the title race.
Mitchell, who revealed in an interview to the Herald last year that he once looked to buy the Hoops, says he tried to warn fans previously about the direction the club were going under the current board but they didn’t listen.
And he didn’t hold back in his views on Sunday.
Hoops hero Chris Sutton had posted on X after Celtic‘s defeat to Hearts.

“Hearts deserved it. Streetwise, organised and better forward player than Celtic. This Celtic team are a shambles. How many Celtic players would get into the Hearts team right now? Hearts will never get a better chance to win the league….Celtic not even a Honda Civic today.”
Mitchell, who is now based in Italy, quote tweeted his post and said: “To all those Celtic fans who didn’t want to listen.
“Who called me a killjoy. Who insulted me as someone who couldn’t enjoy good times.
“Who I had to block because they wouldn’t listen.
“Who laughed at rangers.
“Well f**k you all. This is all on you lot. Not the board. Losers.”
The Celtic Fans Collective – an organisation bringing different supporter groups together – have held protests and want the current board sacked for what they see as failings in recruitment over the summer.
And as well as their “Not Another Penny” initiative, they are warning of more action being taken in order to force through change at the top.
However, Mitchell believes fans are responsible for the decline at the club as they were too busy focused on solely beating Rangers.
He added: “I’ll say it once to all of you. Winning trebles (sometimes luckily) robbed all of all of critical appreciation of what was clear managed decline.
“Your bloodlust for bragging rights blinded you from the truth.
“I’m sorry but the board knew you were like this and got away with it.”
