FORMER Rangers star Lorenzo Amoruso has fired a withering blast in the direction of his former club as they prepare to take on Roma in the Europa League.
It’s been a rough start for new owners Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises as they watched the Russell Martin experiment backfire badly.


There’s major question marks about a number of their summer signings after being dumped 9-1 out of Champions League qualifying by Club Brugge and beaten in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final by Celtic.
With three defeats from their three games to date under their belt in the Europa League, Italian giants Roma have it in their power to inflict more misery on the Gers this evening.
While Amoruso, now a radio pundit in Italy, reckons Roma are still a work in progress themselves, he takes a dim view of most of the early moves at the Ibrox side under the Cavenagh/49ers Enterprises era.

“Rangers were going through a terrible period.
“Roma can’t afford to give them confidence; they’ll need to go there and take control of the game, to put the result in the right place straight away.

“The Scottish league is a very peculiar one, but Rangers are objectively a poor team.
“A new, very wealthy and ambitious ownership has taken over, but so far they’ve got everything wrong: their approach, their manager, their signings.
“The mistakes aren’t those of today, but of the past.

“There were many bad decisions, and inadequate managers. The Scottish league has always been a two-team affair: Celtic and Rangers.
