HAMILTON ACCIES don’t have their problems to seek right now.
The cash-strapped League One outfit are playing their football away from their home town, and sitting back in seventh in the league after a fresh points deduction and fine last month saw them drop off the top of the table.

And when former Celtic chief and TV personality Jock Brown stepped down from his role as chairman on health grounds earlier this week, that left sporting director Gerry Strain as the sole director at the historic SPFL club.
And now Strain, a figure who has been far from popular with Accies fans, has outline the predicament the club currently face – one that he admits frankly is “a highly unusual and very serious situation”.
He wrote in a statement on the club’s official channels: “I want to take this opportunity to be open with our supporters and the wider Hamilton Academical community about the club’s current governance position.
“Due to the recent resignation of our esteemed Chairman, Jock Brown, I am now the only remaining registered Director of Hamilton Academical Football Club.

“This is a highly unusual and very serious situation, and one that I want our supporters to understand clearly and truthfully.
“It has been a deeply challenging period for everyone involved.
As Director of Football, and now as the club’s sole Director, my responsibility is to ensure that Hamilton Academical FC continues to operate within all legal, financial, and football regulatory frameworks.
“This includes protecting staff employment, fulfilling league and association obligations, and ensuring that the club remains compliant with the Companies Act 2006 and all SPFL and SFA requirements of us as a member organisation.
“It is important to state that today, the club remains operational, and all football and administrative activities continue as normal.
“However, it is not sustainable or responsible for the club to remain under a single directorship for any prolonged period.
“In order to do all that I can to safeguard the club’s longer-term stability, I have therefore begun the process of identifying and appointing new Board members.
“These individuals – should they accept my approaches to them – will bring experience, professionalism, and integrity to strengthen our governance and help guide Hamilton Academical FC through the next phase of our rebuilding.
“The appointment process is being carried out with legal and corporate oversight to ensure compliance and transparency.
“Once the new Board is confirmed, the details will be shared publicly.
“I want to make clear that my intention in sharing this is not to cause alarm, but to demonstrate transparency and honesty with the supporters who deserve to know how serious our current position is, and how committed and determined I am to correct it.
“We are doing all that we can to rebuild the foundations of this football club step by step. That includes stronger governance, financial accountability, and open communication with our fans, stakeholders, and governing bodies.
“As always, I remain deeply grateful for your continued support and backing of our excellent manager John Rankin and his players as we face some really crucial fixtures and a very busy playing schedule with very limited playing resources available to us.
“With respect and commitment. Gerry Strain, Sporting Director & Sole Director of Hamilton Academical FC.”
