THE Celtic Trust say they’ve requested an urgent meeting with Hoops chiefs after claiming shareholders were prevented from proxying their votes to them ahead of this month’s AGM.
The fans’ grouping have been ardent critics of the Parkhead board, with tensions higher than usual in the wake of the Brendan Rodgers saga and the club’s Champions League qualifying exit to Kairat Almaty.

They had revealed their intent to express a vote of no confidence in the PLC Board at the meeting and had indicated to shareholders how to proxy votes to the Trust.
But now they’re seeking urgent answers after discovering that shareholders trying to proxy their vote to the Trust were being thwarted by a technical glitch which they claim the company responsible told them was due to a rejection of the word “trust.”
Now they’re asking why such issues have never previously arisen.
They said in a statement: “The Celtic Trust have become aware of a number of issues small shareholders have experienced when voting or proxying their votes for Celtic’s AGM on 21st November.

“The Celtic Trust have publicised our voting intentions and encouraged small shareholders to either vote alongside us or proxy their votes to us.
“We have been in regular contact with Computershare regarding the error messages many shareholders have reported experiencing when attempting to cast or proxy their votes.
“Incredibly, we were informed by Computershare at 9am today that this issue has only applied to those shareholders attempting to proxy their vote to The Celtic Trust.
“We have been given no explanation as to why this issue has arisen this year but not in any of the past 25 years.
It is the responsibility of Celtic PLC to ensure the rights of all shareholders are protected.
“We have, today, contacted Celtic to request an urgent meeting with the Company Secretary at 9am on Monday 10th November to hear what Celtic PLC intend to do about this matter.”
Celtic have been asked for comment.
