Dundee vs Rangers preview
Optimism wasn’t overly high for Rangers heading into their European tie with Roma on Thursday night.
Going into the game at the foot of the Europa League standings, Gers remained there after the 2-0 defeat where again they looked like they could play all night and not score, while not being overly convincing defensively.
John Souttar was done for the second goal but is forced to do so much good work with Nasser Djiga alongside him and Rangers desperately need to find a solution to have someone else partner the Scotland international.
But that’s the job of Danny Rohl who continues to talk a good game and definitely has the backing of the Gers support, so needs to come up with a result here.
Rangers are five points behind Celtic and 14 behind leaders Hearts going into the weekend, though have played one game less than the Jambos at this point.
They’ve won their last two league games though so can pick up where they left off after the last two results.
Dundee have lost their last two games and incredibly they are one win and four defeats in the last five – with that win coming against CELTIC.
They also did get a draw at Ibrox earlier in the season when James Tavernier again saved Gers with an injury time penalty.
Defeat to Falkirk was followed by a poor showing when being thumped 4-0 at Hearts and they find themselves in 11th spot heading into the weekend.

Dundee’s form outside that Celtic victory hasn’t been inspiring. Might they save their best stuff for the Old Firm visiting?
Either way, Rangers got two good league results before their Hampden extra time defeat and can resume their domestic run.
Need to find goals from somewhere though and definitely can’t trust this defence to keep the ball out the net either.
