FORMER Rangers coach Harry Watling is one of the men tasked with taking charge of promotion-chasing Middlesbrough’s clash with Birmingham City today amid a day of drama on Wearside.
Watling, who worked alongside Michael Beale during his time at Gers, is joined by his fellow first team coach Adi Viveash and academy boss Craig Liddle in taking charge of team affairs.


That’s following the news today that ‘Boro have agreed a compensation deal which will allow head coach Rob Edwards to speak to Wolves about the vacancy at Molyneux.
Just 90 minutes before kick off at the Riverside, Middlesbrough wrote on social media: “Middlesbrough Football Club have, subject to the completion of an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, given head coach Rob Edwards permission to speak to Wolves.
“We initially rejected an approach from Wolves on the basis that Rob signed a three-year contract with MFC less than six months ago.
“Following discussions with Rob we were disappointed to learn that he wanted to speak with Wolves regarding their head coach vacancy.

“We have now agreed terms with Wolves, subject to completion of the relevant paperwork.
“First team coaches Adi Viveash and Harry Watling, and Academy manager Craig Liddle, will take charge of team affairs for Saturday’s game against Birmingham City at the Riverside.”
Middlesbrough, impressive as they took on Russell Martin‘s Gers side in pre-season, currently sit fourth in the table.
