Broadcaster Jacqui Oatley was commentating at the Centro Deportivo Alcala de Henares when Medina went down.
She described the moment as “horrendous” as she wished the defender well.
She wrote: “This is horrendous.
“We’ve just commentated on Atletico Madrid’s UWCL game v Juventus for Disney+ and young Spanish left back Andrea Medina suddenly went down – she received urgent lengthy treatment before being carried off.
“We wish her all the very best and hope she’s OK.”
Atletico confirmed that she suffered a “traumatic brain injury” in the collision.
A club statement read: “Andrea Medina was replaced after suffering a traumatic brain injury.
“The footballer is doing well but has been transferred to a hospital centre to undergo additional tests.”
Atletico lost 2-1 to the Italian outfit as Amaiur Sarriegi’s opening goal was cancelled out by Emma Stølen Godø before Bonansea’s winner.
Medina’s team-mate Carmen Menayo was asked about her situation after full-time.
She was able to give a positive update.
She said: “I think she’s doing well, she’s in the hospital, and she has to undergo tests but I think she’s doing fine”
