Butterfield has entered into a three-year sponsorship agreement with Caymanian golfer Justin Hastings to support his professional career.
In a press release issued on 13 Nov., Butterfield welcomed Hastings to the 2025 Butterfield Bermuda Championship, which started on Thursday and runs through Sunday, 16 Nov. Hastings shot an even-par 71 in the first round, putting him in good position to make the Friday cut with a good score in the second round.
Prior to the start of his professional career this past summer, Hastings earned the ‘low amateur’ award at the 2025 US Open Championship, making him the first Caymanian golfer to both compete and make the cut in a US Open.
At age 14, he became the youngest player ever to win the Cayman Islands Men’s National Championship and has represented the Cayman Islands in major international competitions, including the Latin America Amateur Championship and the World Amateur Team Championships.
Speaking at the pre-tournament event this week, Hastings said: “I am very excited about the launch of my partnership with the Butterfield team. It’s an honour to be aligned with such a well-renowned brand in the Cayman Islands. I’m looking forward to competing in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship this week and to growing as a player in the years ahead with the support of Butterfield to help me reach my goals.”
Michael McWatt, Butterfield’s managing director, Cayman, said in the release: “Following on from offering Justin a sponsor exemption to compete in this year’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship, he since turned pro and our new sponsorship agreement is a natural development.
“Justin is a fantastic young Caymanian athlete with a bright future and we are delighted to be able to support his continued career progression on a global stage. We wish him all the best in the tournament and look forward to working with him over the next three years.”
