Or it could be a case of glorious failure as usual and nothing more than a dress rehearsal for the play-offs in March.


All will be revealed after 90 minutes against Greece in Piraeus on Saturday.
The France 98 World Cup was the last time the Scots made their presence felt on the biggest stage.
Scotland needed at least a point against Greece to have a chance of taking it down to a winner-takes-all clash against Denmark at Hampden on Tuesday.
The Scots kicked off this World Cup qualifying campaign with a hard-fought 0-0 draw in Copenhagen against the Danes.

That precious point was followed by a 2-0 win over Belarus in Hungary to set up a solid foundation for Steve Clarke‘s side to build on.
A flattering 3-1 win over the Greeks at Hampden was another vital three points that were barely deserved last month.
And they put themselves within touching distance of qualifying with a less than convincing 2-1 win over Belarus at home.
Whatever happens over the coming days they are guaranteed a World Cup play-off, which will be played in March.
