ALLY MCCOIST looked out a rare piece of Rangers memorabilia to go for a memorable dip at the beach.
The Gers legend is currently over in Los Angeles, having recently taken in an NFL game on a “trip of a lifetime” to the States.
Enjoying a break from his extensive media duties, the 63-year-old decided to include an evening swim at a nearby beach on his itinerary, making the most of the California sun.
The Rangers hero posted a series of video updates to his Instagram account as he ditched all but a special pair of shorts for the dive into the Pacific Ocean.
He began filming as he walked down a street overlooking the beach, saying: “It’s the back of six. That looks too good to be true, doesn’t it?
“I’m thinking to myself, if I can go in the water in the north of Scotland then surely I can go in there?”

Later, McCoist filmed himself standing at the shore and revealed the rare piece of Rangers kit that he was wearing for his evening swim.
It was none other than a pair of shorts from his time as assistant boss of Rangers.
His initials of ‘A Mc’ could be seen on the front, alongside the Umbro badge from the time.
McCoist said: “Get a look at these boys.
“Not seen them for a while.”
After that it was time to dive in and McCoist’s next update was with his hair slicked back and wet from the sea waves.
He said: “That was magic, absolutely magic.
“But I’ll got to tell you something, it’s not close to the north of Scotland.
“The north of Scotland is cold man!
“That is lovely, just lovely.”
