LEWIS HALL possesses the one thing that no manager can coach into a top talent.
That is the claim of Lee Carsley after welcoming the Newcastle star back into the international fold following a year-long absence.
The Under-21s boss handed the left-back two caps last November during his interim spell in charge of the seniors.
Unfortunately the 21-year-old has been unable to push on since with a broken foot forcing him to miss Toon’s Carabao Cup triumph in March.
A hamstring issue forced him out of more action this term for both club and country.
Hall described that period as “the worst part of my career” but he provided a timely reminder to Thomas Tuchel over his capabilities on the exact anniversary of his England debut.

HE’S THE MAN

He produced a brilliant display, and even won a penalty, as the U21s beat Republic of Ireland 2-0 at Birmingham on Friday.
Carsley said: “You saw against Ireland that he’s an outstanding player.
“He’s a player that I was lucky enough to have the chance to give a senior cap. His biggest thing now is just to stay fit and to keep building and that he’s in a good place.
“All of the players can still develop all of their attributes. Lewis has got a lot of outstanding ones.

“The one attribute that you don’t see is his mentality. He’s very professional, wants to win and compete. You can’t coach that.”
Hall and the rest of the Young Lions are now in Slovakia aiming to stretch their perfect start to Euro 2026 qualification.
Although England will be cautious with the defender given his recent issues, Carsley is hoping to see more of the same from the ex-Chelsea man.
He said: “We’ve got to manage his minutes. We’ll try and get him some minutes against Slovakia.”
Meanwhile, Hall’s Toon team-mate Lewis Miley is delighted to have his pal back.
The midfielder, hoping to follow up his start against the Irish with another in Slovakia, added: “Me and Lewis vibe off each other. I’m glad Lewis is back from injury and hopefully he starts doing well again.”
