McNeese State claimed the title at the Cayman Islands Classic on 25 Nov., securing the programme’s first-ever in-season tournament championship.
The Cowboys, who finished the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record, defeated Middle Tennessee in the final game with a score of 72-62 at the John Gray High School gymnasium.
McNeese’s path to the championship included a 92-86 victory over George Washington on 23 Nov., followed by a 73-60 win the next day against Murray State.
A key contributor to this historic run was Javohn Garcia of McNeese, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
