FAIRBAINE UNITED – 2025 Greiggs 20/20 Softball Cricket winners

AN EMERGING Softball Cricket powerhouse here in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Fairbaine United, gave a glimpse into the future when they claimed the 2025 Caesar’s Real Estate/ Nar Fren Dem/Greiggs T/20 title last Sunday, December 14, at the Greiggs Central Playing Field.
An emphatic 8-wicket win over former winners of the competition- RSVG Police landed Fairbaine United their first lien on the competition, the challenge, the winner’s trophy, as well as $2,500.
In a reduced 17 over affair because of a late start, RSVG Police reached 134 for 6 from their allotment. Desron Maloney led with 52, made up of 7-sixes and a four . Roderick John contributed 36 not out, 30 coming from 5 sixes, and a four. Dillon Douglas took 3 for 35, bowling for Fairbaine United.
Douglas then powered his way to 69 not out, and Andrew Glasgow, 31, saw Fairbaine United responding with 138 for 2 in 11.1 overs. Augustus Ballantyne had 2 for 27, bowling for RSVG Police.
Joining Fairbaine United and RSVG Police in the top three was Sion Hill Tallawahs who saw off Yung Stars by 65 runs in the third place play-off that took place before the final.
Tallawahs, choosing to bat, scored 173 for 6 from 17 overs as the match was also reduced.
Shamic Roberts led with 47, while Emroy James scalped 2 for 30.
In reply,Yung Stars reached 108 for 2 from their allotted 17 overs. Delano Woodley, scored 25. Kerwin Williams picked up 2 for 16.
Williams was later named player of the competition for his 184 runs and nine wickets.
Fairbaine United’s Andrew Glasgow scored the most runs- 290, with RSVG Police’s Devon Stay pouching the award for most wickets- 15.
AIA Reload’s Jerando Jardine, was adjudged to have taken the best catch in the competition.
RSVG Police was named most disciplined team, and Fairbaine United’s Glenson Guy the best manager.
Country Meet Town Out Ah Trouble, defending champions, took a break this year.That team won the previous five editions of the competition.
