OLDHAM ATHLETIC’s League Two clash with Notts County has been called off due to an unplayable pitch.
The UK is still being gripped by a post-New Year big freeze, which has wreaked havoc up and down the nation.
The arrival of Storm Goretti from the south west later today is set to bring even more bad weather.
Several footie matches in England and Scotland were called off last weekend due to frozen pitches.
And Saturday’s clash between Oldham and Notts County at Boundary Park has also fallen victim to the freezing conditions.
A club statement read: “Our Sky Bet League Two fixture against Notts County (Saturday 10 January) has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
“An inspection took place on Thursday afternoon with the pitch frozen following persistent freezing temperatures since our last home game on New Year’s Day and further adverse weather also forecast.
“Tickets purchased for this fixture will be valid for the rearranged date.
“Supporters who require a refund will be able claim theirs once the date for the rearranged fixture is announced.”
Several areas of the UK are still covered in snow as a result of the prolonged freezing conditions.

And Goretti may bring “significant” amounts with it as it makes landfall from the southwest.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said: “As that rain pushes its way and it hits against that cold air that we currently have across us .
“And so on the northern edge, we are likely to see some fairly significant snow as we go through later tomorrow and into Friday.”
The Met Office has issued amber warnings up and down the nation ahead of the arrival of Goretti.
