WAYNE ROONEY has revealed a key change Michael Carrick has made to reinforce Manchester United’s DNA.
The interim boss has overseen two wins from two matches against Manchester City and Arsenal.

He has instilled belief in the team following Ruben Amorim’s sacking, and is now attracting the plaudits.
Rooney hailed his impact following the 3-2 win at the Emirates, and he believes Carrick’s actions behind the scenes are working wonders.
In particular, Rooney suggests United are being rewarded after Carrick reinstalled the club’s DNA – by attending youth matches.
Carrick and his coaching team, including former United defender Jonny Evans, have watched Under-18 and U16 games since taking over.

Rooney said on The Wayne Rooney Show: “The change in Manchester United over a two-game period is incredible.
“Just putting an attitude into the players and a focus, and a togetherness into them which, if we’re honest, we didn’t see under Ruben Amorim.
“You go back to the United DNA and United as a club and things you want to see.
“I was there for 13 years, so [there are] things you want to see at that football club which I haven’t seen there for a long time. And I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

“You’ve got all the coaching staff all there watching the under-18s play. And then again, on a Saturday morning, they’re all there watching the under-16s play after the training session.
“These are all things which used to happen in the past and it makes a big difference. In my eyes they have taken a step towards getting the club back a little bit closer to where they used to be when the club was successful.
“I know how Michael works and I knew what he could do with this team. I am really pleased with the start he has made because he and his coaches have been criticised as well and have gone and competed with the best teams in the league.”
By contrast, Amorim failed to attend a single youth match during his 14-month spell in charge.
Rooney was also in attendance at an U16 fixture at the weekend, watching his son Kai make his Old Trafford in the FA Youth Cup.
