FORMER Manchester United academy starlet Angel Gomes could be set for a shock return to the Premier League, reports suggest.
Gomes, 25, left Old Trafford in 2020 for free and has gone on to shine in France.
First for Lille and now at Marseille, Gomes’ performances have attracted the attention of Prem strugglers Wolves.
According to Santiago Aouna, the Midlands club are pushing to loan the midfielder until the end of the season.
It is also claimed that Wolves are keen to add an obligation to buy clause on the condition that they stay in the top flight.
Wolves are currently rock bottom but have started to pick up points after a terrible start to the season.

Rob Edwards‘ side are still 17 adrift of Nottingham Forest in 17th and would need a stunning change of fortunes to avoid relegation.
He had been linked with a host of clubs from England before making the switch to the south of France last summer at the end of his contract.
Gomes’ Ligue 1 form at Lille earned him a place in the England team in 2024.
Under Lee Carsley he impressed across four appearances but has been left out by Thomas Tuchel.

Gomes is now working for Roberto De Zerbi in an exciting and attacking Marseille sides still just about challenging for the title.
He has been in and out of the team of late, though, and it has been claimed that his already slim chances of making it to the World Cup rely on a mid-season transfer.
In 2022, Gomes said of heading back to England to play domestic football: “Do I imagine myself coming back one day? Obviously, it’s home.”
“I would love to come back. But you never know in football.
“I just have to keep my feet on the ground, and keep playing, making the most of it.
“I can’t predict what will happen in the future.”
On leaving United, Gomes had previously said: “I knew it would be hard, but I didn’t quite understand how emotional it would be.
“Saying goodbye to the friends I’ve known since the very start; all the staff; the security at the gate.
“I love everyone there and it was all I’d ever known. I don’t think it had quite sunk in, leaving everything behind.”
