ROYAL JET can fly in again at Lingfield (2.50, nap)
Tony Carroll’s six-year-old has won two of his past three outings, including over a mile here. He dropped to today’s trip when scoring with plenty in hand at Southwell last time and stays in the same sort of grade. William Carson was in the saddle there and keeps the ride seven days later. He has to give 5lb to his rivals but a horse in form is a real asset at this level and he can go close.
TOMMY COMBATS (3.43 Ayr, nb)
Was going great guns before a clumsy unseat well into the final circuit at Newcastle. He’s overdue a win and dropping back to this trip looks wise.
POKE THE BEAR (2.20 Lingfield, treble)
Landed a cosy win around here last time. The official winning margin was just a length but it could have been a lot further. This extra furlong holds no fears and there’s at least one more win in him under a penalty.
INTERVENTION (6.30 Chelmsford, Lucky 15)
Won at Lingfield three runs ago and had no luck in running there last time. He’s on a fair mark and should be on the premises.
