Not one. Not two.
Three collegiate records met their maker at the 118th Millrose Games, including two that had stood for more than 30 years prior to Sunday.

Alabama’s Doris Lemngole got the record-breaking party started in the Burgess Family Foundation Women’s 3000 Meters, running 8:31.39 to better Katelyn Tuohy’s three-year-old collegiate standard, also set at Millrose. Lemngole sprinted past BYU’s Jane Hedengren with 200 meters to go and distanced herself from the pack to win by more than one second over Hannah Nuttall (Hedengren finished third in 8:34.98 for the No. 2 mark on all-time collegiate list).
Two races later, New Mexico’s Habtom Samuel took down Henry Rono’s 48-year-old collegiate record in the 2-mile. Samuel covered the seldom-run distance in 8:11.47, roughly seven seconds faster than Rono’s mark from 1978.
Then Northern Arizona’s Colin Sahlman capped the collegiate highlight reel with a commanding 1:44.70 victory in the 800 meters. Sahlman demoted Paul Ereng’s 37-year-old collegiate record to second-best in the process. It was an unprecedented weekend in the 800, as three men added their name to the all-time collegiate top five – along with Gladys Chepngetich for the women.
And while not a collegiate record, Oregon’s Wilma Nielsen came this close to it in the mile. Nielsen clocked a PR of 4:23.56 to come within 0.10 seconds of teammate Silan Ayyildiz’s CR.
