Virgin Islands Sports Ambassador Michelle Smith delivered another statement performance this weekend, showcasing her range, composure, and championship‑level speed at the prestigious Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, AR.

Competing for the University of Georgia, Smith played a pivotal role in two major relay events.
Smith opened her weekend by taking on the 800m leg of the Distance Medley Relay (DMR), a demanding four‑part event consisting of the 1200m, 400m, 800m, and 1‑mile. Running against elite competition, she split an impressive 2:06.36. Their overall time of 11:22.70 is 4th in the UGA program history.
If her DMR effort set the tone, her anchor leg in the 4×400m relay stole the show.
Smith closed out the race for the Bulldogs with a blistering 52.02 split, powering UGA to a world‑leading time of 3:27.65. The performance not only secured the victory but also marked the second‑fastest 4×400m time in University of Georgia history, underscoring the relay’s exceptional execution and Smith’s ability to elevate her team in the biggest moments.
Next on Smith’s schedule is the Tiger Paw Invite in Clemson, SC, set for February 13 and 14. The competition traditionally draws elite NCAA programs and national-caliber athletes, offering Smith another opportunity to sharpen her form early in the season.
Virgin Islands Track and Field member Omar Simpson continued his steady rise on the indoor circuit with a sharp performance at the Tryon Banked: College Friday track and field meet, showcasing both speed and competitive poise in the 300m dash.

Competing in a deep field of collegiate sprinters, Simpson clocked an impressive 34.26, securing 2nd place in his heat and adding another quality mark to his early‑season campaign. His time reflects strong speed endurance and positions him well as he builds toward his primary sprint events later in the indoor season.
The 300m, a rarely contested but highly revealing sprint distance, demands both explosive acceleration and the ability to maintain form under fatigue. Simpson handled the challenge with confidence, demonstrating the kind of race execution that signals more breakthroughs ahead.
