Flyhawk Spreads Its Wings: Championing a New Era for Women and Girls in Sport.
Flyhawk, the female-founded sportswear brand dedicated to women and girls, proudly launches its new Women’s Sports campaign – marking a defining moment in the brand’s journey. Now celebrating its fifth year, Flyhawk is entering an exciting new era, expanding beyond its netball roots while staying true to a singular mission: to become the number one teamwear brand for women and girls.
Raising the Bar for Female Athletes
After more than a decade working in the sportswear industry, Flyhawk’s founders saw a persistent issue: female athletes were being overlooked. Across team sports, “unisex” kit dominated – often poorly fitting, lacking technical performance features, and failing to meet the needs of women and girls.
In 2020, Flyhawk was created to challenge that norm. Launching into the netball market in January 2021, the brand immediately gained recognition from elite players and clubs. Flyhawk set out not just to participate in women’s sport, but to elevate it – refusing to accept “good enough” and instead designing kit specifically for female bodies, performance and confidence.
From Netball Roots to Industry Disruptor
Flyhawk’s early impact was felt quickly. In 2021, London Pulse signed a multi-year partnership with the brand, appointing Flyhawk as its official sportswear partner across on-court kit, off-court apparel and fan merchandise. The momentum continued with partnerships across the netball pathway, including Team Bath for the 2023–24 season and Nottingham Forest Netball in 2025.
In 2023, Flyhawk launched its Choice Beats Tradition campaign, expanding its inclusive kit offering to teams and reinforcing its commitment to representation across the sport. A partnership with the England Men’s and Mixed Netball Association followed, cementing Flyhawk’s presence from grassroots to the elite level while championing inclusivity.
Powering this growth is a network of elite athletes who embody the Flyhawk ethos — trailblazers, team players and leaders. Past and present ambassadors include Imogen Allison, Halimat Adio, Natalie Metcalf, Serena Guthrie MBE, Stacey Francis-Bayman and James Thomson-Boston. Together, they represent Flyhawk’s commitment to innovation, representation and world-class partnerships within netball.
Expanding Across Women’s Sport
As Flyhawk enters 2026, its expertise extends beyond netball into more women’s sports, while strengthening its growing presence in schools across the UK. The focus remains clear: ensuring girls experience kit designed specifically for them from their very first steps into sport.
Flyhawk’s performance-led teamwear is engineered to support comfort, movement and confidence – whether at elite level, in local clubs or within school communities. This expansion is underpinned by continued investment in research, design and collaboration with educators, coaches and athletes, ensuring every product reflects the real needs of female players.
By working closely with schools, Flyhawk is shaping the future of girls’ sport through purpose-built PE kit and teamwear. This approach embeds female-focused design at every stage of the sporting journey, empowering young athletes to train, compete and express themselves with confidence.
Founder Stephanie Essex explains why Flyhawk’s expansion is essential:
“Our roots will always be in netball, but five years in, it became clear that the problems we set out to solve weren’t unique to one sport. Across football, hockey, cricket and more, female athletes are still wearing unisex kit or resized men’s garments. Schools struggle to find good-quality girls’ sports kit, and parents search for inclusive sportswear that actually fits.
Expanding Flyhawk was a natural progression. We’ve proven what happens when you design specifically for women and girls — now we’re ready to bring that purpose across more sports. The goal isn’t to be a multisport brand; it’s to be the brand for women’s teamwear.”
Women’s Sport: No Longer Emerging, But Exploding
Flyhawk’s campaign launches amid an unprecedented global rise in women’s sport. From football to rugby to cricket, participation, visibility and investment are soaring. England’s Lionesses’ back-to-back Euros triumph and World Cup performances reshaped the cultural significance of women’s football, while England’s Red Roses claimed victory at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup and England Women’s Cricket continues to push boundaries on the world stage.
This momentum is reflected in Flyhawk’s ambassadors, including AFC Bournemouth footballer Gemma McGuinness:
“I want to know when I finish my career that I’ve left people in a better place. You can’t do it on your own – you need the right support, culture and environment.”
Her words echo Flyhawk’s belief that sport thrives on teamwork, community and shared purpose.
International rugby player Ellie Boatman reinforces the impact of the right kit:
