The Nexa–GUT National Primary School Games came to an exciting conclusion on 4 and 5 March 2026, marking the culmination of weeks of spirited competition among primary schools across Grenada.
The finals brought together the top young athletes from across the island, following the branch-level competitions which began on 5 February 2026. After schools competed within their respective parishes, the strongest performers advanced to represent their parish with pride at the national finals, creating 2 days of energetic competition, sportsmanship and parish pride.
At the end of the finals, St Andrew emerged as champions with an impressive 611 points, securing the parish’s 30th championship title, a remarkable milestone in the history of the games. Although this year’s winning score was 2 points lower than the 2025 winning total, it was more than enough for St Andrew to once again claim the top spot. St George placed second, while St Patrick secured third place.
The games represent a continued partnership between Nexa Credit Union and the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT), with 2026 marking the third year of collaboration in supporting the development of youth through sport. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating opportunities for young people to develop their skills, take their first steps towards an Olympic medal and chase their various dreams.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the finals, Retesha Smith-Boyd, General Manager of Nexa Credit Union, highlighted that “The Nexa-GUT National Primary School Games is a celebration of talent, teamwork, discipline and the bright promise of our nation’s children,” reaffirming the credit union’s commitment to investing in youth development and community engagement.
Nexa Credit Union extends heartfelt gratitude to the Grenada Union of Teachers for their leadership in planning and executing the games, as well as to the meet director, teachers, athletes, students, volunteers, and spectators whose dedication and enthusiasm made the event possible.
To the St Andrew Branch, congratulations on your 30th championship title and a job well done to the other 6 parishes that participated in the games.
The Nexa–GUT National Primary School Games continue to serve as an important platform for youth development in Grenada, celebrating athletic talent while strengthening community pride across the island’s parishes. Nexa invites the public to come out and support these incredible young athletes as the games continue at both the branch and national levels.
