Saint Lucia Sports Academy earned a superb super-over win over Sir Arthur Lewis Community College on Thursday, as the Ministry of Education, Youth Development, Sports and Digital Transformation’s Under-19 Boys’ Cricket Tournament got underway at two venues. There were wins for St Mary’s College and Leon Hess Comprehensive.

At the Francis Baba Lastic Grounds in Gros Islet, SLSA got a measure of revenge over defending champions SALCC. The boys from Morne Fortune defeated the Academy lads by 97 runs in the final last April. Liam Joseph, Clint Dickson, and Zannaki Louis led the way for SLSA.
In a match reduced to 29 overs, SALCC compiled 124-7. Johnathan Daniel top scored with 58 (six fours, four sixes) and Tyler Venner added 35. Joseph took 4-7 in four overs, and Dickson 2-37 in four overs. SLSA finished on 124-6, forcing the super over. Dickson made 36, and Louis 30. Kaylum Thomas took 2-16. In the one-over decider, SLSA scored 15-0, while SALCC were held to just 7-1.
At the Balata Playing Field, LHCSS completed a comfortable four-wicket win over Corinth Secondary. Corinth was dismissed for 115 in 18.3 overs. Zidane Wilson made 42, Shealawn Daniel 19, and Peter Murray 11. Nathan Mongroo took 3-4, Cypriani Norville 2-20, Ahlil Cyril 2-23, and Aiden Scholar 2-26. Hess got to 116-6 to secure victory. Kaleb Charles made 31, Shadei St Omer 26, and Jalani Satney 12. Neil Poyotte took 2-11, Zidane Wilson 2-20, and Shealawn Daniel 2-20.


Also at the Balata Playing Field, SMC thrashed Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School by 117 runs. SMC made 190-5 in 20 overs. Delaun Clifford top scored with 69, John Michael Auguste made 32, Jean Claude Emmanuel 21, and Kai Alexander 14. Dwayne Joseph took 2-34. In reply, SISSS closed their innings on 73-9. Omari McCaunley made 11. Kyan Serieux captured 3-12, and Delaun Clifford 2-8.
The second scheduled game at FBLG did not take place. Babonneau Secondary forfeited the game due to unforeseen circumstances, and Patricia D. James Secondary School won by default.
