The Grenada Senior Women’s National Team will return to home soil on Tuesday, 14 April for a highly anticipated Concacaf W Qualifier against the Cayman Islands at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 5 pm.
The match forms part of the 2025–2026 Concacaf W Qualifiers, a regional competition that will determine which six national teams advance to the 2026 Concacaf W Championship final tournament, joining automatic qualifiers Canada and the United States.
For Team Grenada, the encounter represents a significant opportunity to strengthen their position and continue building momentum in a competitive regional landscape.
A key moment in the group stage
In the current qualifying structure, participating teams are drawn into groups and compete in a single leg round-robin format across international windows, with only the group winners progressing to the final championship tournament.
Both Grenada and the Cayman Islands will be eager to secure points as the group stage intensifies. Recent results across the region have underscored the increasingly competitive nature of women’s football in the Caribbean, with emerging teams challenging traditional powerhouses.
Building momentum for women’s football in Grenada
The Grenada Football Association views the upcoming fixture as more than just a qualifying match. It represents a continued step forward in the development of women’s football nationally.
“For us, this upcoming fixture represents more than just a qualifying match,” said Marlon Glean, President, GFA. “It reflects the continued progress we are making in the development of women’s football in Grenada. Over the past several years, we have seen steady growth in participation, visibility, and international exposure for our women’s program. Matches like this provide an important opportunity for the team to showcase that progress in front of our home supporters and continue building confidence and experience at the regional level.”
The upcoming qualifier will also mark an important milestone in Grenada’s player development pathway, with four members of the national Under-17 programme earning call-ups to the Senior Women’s National Team. Their inclusion reflects the GFA’s continued commitment to creating 16/03/20256 meaningful opportunities for young talent to transition into the senior national setup. It also signals growing confidence in the strength, potential, and readiness of Grenada’s emerging players as the Association works to build a sustainable future for women’s football at every level.
Home support key to success
Playing at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium provides the team with the added advantage of home support, a factor that has proven vital in many international fixtures.
The Grenada Football Association invites the nation to rally behind the Senior Women’s National Team as they continue their journey in the Concacaf W Qualifiers and strive to make their mark on the regional stage.
