STANFORD, CALIFORNIA, April 03 — BYU’s frosh star Jane Hedengren and New Mexico’s ’25 NCAA 5K/10K double winner Pamela Kosgei went at each other full tilt throughout the Stanford Invitational women’s 10,0000. After passing halfway in about 15:33, they hammered harder over the second half and in the end, with a 66.11 final circuit, Hedengren closed best for a decisive win by 3.19.
Her time, 30:46.80, was a Collegiate Record, nearly 3 seconds under Parker Valby’s previous standard set at the ’24 Bryan Clay Invite. Hedengren will turn 20 in September so will not get credit for an American Junior Record. Kosgei, having closed in 69.54, moved up to No. 2 all-time collegian.
Check out their splits. Full report on the Stanford Invitational will follow.
