The Police Academy Second Division delivered a disciplined all-round performance to defeat Mystic Marvel’s Cricket Club by six wickets in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Sherwin Williams 2nd Division T20 Cup 2026 at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, on Saturday.
After winning the battle with the ball, Police Academy comfortably chased down a modest target to seal victory with more than nine overs to spare.
Batting first, Mystic Marvel’s Cricket Club struggled from the onset and were bowled out for just 65 in 14.1 overs. L Pellew top-scored with 16, while N Liverpool contributed 14, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to withstand the disciplined bowling attack.
Kerwin Amsterdam spearheaded the demolition with outstanding figures of 4-18 from his four overs. Kelvin Leitch provided excellent support, returning remarkable figures of 3-2 from three overs to further derail the innings. Hazel Williams (1-13 from 2 overs); Deo Singh (1-12 from 4 overs) and Troy Benn (1-8 from 1.1 overs) chipped in to complete the rout.
In response, Police Academy 2nd Division eased to 68-4 in 10.3 overs. Leitch capped a fine all-round display with a top score of 21, while Benn added 12 and Semon Gaffoor supported with 11 to guide the chase.
For Mystic Marvel’s Cricket Club, Anthony Fredericks claimed 2-8 from 1.3 overs, while Elian Whyte (1-27 from 4 overs) and Dequan Wray (1-14 from 4 overs) each took a wicket. However, the target proved far too small to defend.
Police Academy’s victory was built on a sharp, clinical bowling performance, with Amsterdam and Leitch laying the foundation for a comprehensive six-wicket triumph.
Meanwhile, in one of the most one-sided encounters ever recorded in the GCA, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) produced a devastating display to crush Ace Warriors at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground.
Ace Warriors, after winning the toss and electing to bat, were sensationally bundled out for a mere 11 runs in 8.1 overs in a collapse that stunned onlookers.
Ayinde Rogers was virtually unplayable, claiming five wickets in a breathtaking spell of four overs without conceding a single run. Shamar Angel provided strong support with figures of 3-11 as the GDF bowlers tore through the batting order.
Chasing a target of just 12 for victory, GDF wasted no time in wrapping up proceedings. The military side raced to 15 without loss in just 1.3 overs to seal a crushing 10-wicket win.
